PHILS PHLOG GAGNE ON LATE LATE SHOW

Did someone say miracle? How else do we explain what happened last night before 52,00 fans in Los Angeles, not to mention several million sleeping football nuts and a handful of ever hopeful baseball crank/night owls in and around Philadelphia? Does anyone really believe that this collection of underachieving ballplayers with the curly white P on their red caps could manhandle the great Eric Gagne in an eleventh inning orgasm of basehits keyed by Jim Thome’s two out two-run single up the middle?
Shed no tears for the big guy, mighty Casey has delivered. Lights out at 2:08.

In two innings Ishii watched the long ball go,
Rollins, Abreu, Byrd and Polanco.
But Cormier and Worrell couldn’t hold it.
It looked like the Phillies had sold it.
And then the goblins came out. Ho Ho Ho!!

Friday, August 6, 2004. Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California.
Philadelphia – 9, Los Angeles – 5.
