A LOSING APRIL
We had a chance to finish April with a winning record. A win today would have put us at 10-10
with a final game tomorrow at home against Arizona. We led into the eighth 2-1 on Thome’s sixth inning homer. Millwood was strong but Bowa went to his book – Worrell in the eighth, Wagner in the ninth. Not today. Cardinals loaded the bases with one out off Worrell. Cormier fanned Edmond’s but Reggie Sanders hit Hernandez’s first pitch against the 402 foot sign in dead center for a 4-2 lead. Ricky Ledee tied it at 4 with a pinch hit homer in the ninth. Amaury Telemaco pitched beautifully from nine through twelve but the Phillies did not threaten against Julian Tavarez and Mike Lincoln.
After four hours and 450 pitches Jim Edmonds ended it in the thirteenth. There must be somebody we can blame.
THIRTEEN INNINGS
Worrell and Hernandez fell down.
Sanders’ bases loaded triple made us frown.
In the ninth Ledee’s pinch hit homerun
Added some spice to our fun.
In the thirteenth Edmond’s walkoff took the crown.
