Please Help Us Expand Our Coverage!

With a new year and our readership more than tripling over the last two years to about 900,000 a month, I am looking to expand our coverage of Japanese baseball as well as other aspects of Asian pro ball. At the same time, I want to take some of the burden off of me so that I can pursue some of the other aspects of Japanese baseball that need to be discussed.

Therefore, starting April 1st, the format of the Japanese baseball articles will undergo a radical overhaul in order to provide even more info to our readers in, hopefully, a more appealing way. In addition, I am looking to take on responsible, reliable people who want to write about the subject in some manner with me acting as editor in chief and copy editor in addition to holding down my own beat and gathering data.

The benefit to those of you out there who have ambitions of becoming sportswriters is that it will give you a forum to expose yourself to the MLB team officials, scouts, players and news media who regularly frequent our site and use it as an information and background source. Some of you may have noticed that my name has been popping up in Baseball America occasionally. That has been thanks to the opportunity that webmaster Craig Tomarkin has given me. We thus have a ready made audience for you to develop some kind of track record that will aid you in moving on to bigger things.

Indeed, with baseball becoming increasingly globalized, anyone who can demonstrate a familiarity with the subject would have a leg up on finding a job with a media organization or pro baseball outfit than someone who has never been exposed to it. So join us, develop your writing chops and provide interesting fodder with which to spellind our readers. Indeed, the more you can help grow our readership will also show any media organization you want to work for that you can draw an audience, which is what they are all about.

For those of you from Japan who speak english as a second language, I can correct your grammar and syntax before publication. However, you must at least have a good handle on english since I can only do so much in a given day.

I have more specifics in terms of what I'm looking for and what positions will be open, but they are too detailed to enumerate here. So I've created an HTML attachment to send those who express interest delineating how I want to handle this thing and what your responsibilities will be should I decide to take you on.

Keep in mind that, at least for now, there is no compensation offered. I do this for free, too. At some point, I hope that will change, but we'll have to see how this develops. Nevertheless, it could still be a beneficial experience for you and can help expand the knowledge of baseball fans and industry participants.

If you are interested in writing about mainland Chinese baseball or baseball in Korea, I would like to bring that coverage under my umbrella as well. If you want to supplement our Taiwanese converage, let me know what you have in mind. Craig will talk it over with our Taiwan guy and we'll see what we can workout.

For those who are interested in any of this, write to me personally at: yourgary43@hotmail.com

Keep in mind that Craig is also looking for people to write everyday on Latin and European baseball. If you would like to fill either role, please feel free to contact him.

Alex Cabrera, Roberto Petagine and Alex Ramírez had oustanding seasons in Japan. Alex Cabrera is playing for Pastora de Los Llanos in a round robbin for selecting the two finalists of our baseball league
