Taiwan Baseball News: Surprising Turnaround For Elephants

Brother Elephants 4 First Securities Agan 0
Just another long day at the office for the First Securities Agan. They were blanked 4-0 by Wen-mao Liu and the Brother Elephants last night at Kaoshung Stadium in front of a surprising crowd of 5,040. They were probably there to see the Chinese Professional Baseball League-leading Elephants beat up on the last place Agan.
Liu (2-2-0) scattered four hits in six innings of shutout ball for the win. He walked one and struck out three en route to being named the Game's MVP. After just 77 pitches, Liu was relieved by Ching-li Wang who pitched the last three innings for his ninth save of the season.
The Elephants scored two runs each in the top half of the third and fifth innings off Agan starter Claudio Galva (2-4-1), who surrendered all four runs on six hits and four walks in just 4 1/3 innings of work. Second baseman Shun-shian Fong went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks and two runs scored for the winners while center fielder Chih-yuen Chen finished the evening with an RBI double in five at-bats. Third baseman Huai-shan Chen had a 2-for-4 performance to go along with one RBI and short stop Rue-chang Chen went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run batted in.
For the sluggish Agan, right fielder Jun-hsiung Lu went 2-for-4 in the leadoff spot while first baseman Hung-jeh Tsai did the same. Catcher Fong-ming Chen had a double in three at-bats.
