Taiwan Baseball News: Elephants Blank League-Leading Bulls

Maybe the Brother Elephants do have a chance at the second-half Chinese Professional Baseball League title. They shutout the league-leading Sinon Bulls last night by a score of 3-0 at Shingcung Stadium in front of 2,297 fans.
Wen-mao Liu went all the way for the 27-20-2 Elephants as he pitched nine shutout innings, scattering nine hits. Liu improved to 2-2-0 as he walked three and struck out four batters. He was named the Game's MVP.
The Elephants scored all their runs in the bottom half of the third inning off of Bulls starter Chi-shian Ho who gave up three runs, two of them earned, on five hits in 2 2/3 innings. He fell to 2-7-0.
Short stop Rue-chang Chen went 2-for-4 with one run scored for the winners while second baseman Shun-shian Fong went 1-for-4 with a run plated and another driven in. Right fielder Cheng-ming Pang finished the evening 3-for-4 with one RBI.
The Bulls, who are still in good shape at 34-15-1 and up by six games over the China Trust Whales and Elephants, were blanked but designated hitter Chien-long Kao went 2-for-4.
