China Trust Whales 3 Sinon Bulls 2

The China Trust Whales climbed to within 1.5 games of the CPBL-leading Sinon Bulls as they squeezed to a 3-2 victory last night at Taichung Stadium in front of 6,018 onlookers. That's more I like it!

Whales first baseman Chi-fong Hung once again played a big part in the win as he launched a solo home run, his sixth of the year, to win the ball game. He finished 2-for-3 and was named the Game's MVP. Second baseman Yueh-liang Lin had an RBI to help the Whales' cause but Dominican third baseman Juan Melo went 0-for-4 as he struck out three times.

Japanese native Hiroaki Nakayama got the win as he gave up two runs, which were not earned, in six innings of work. Nakayama scattered seven hits, walked two and struck out four en route to improving to 7-2-0. He ended up throwing 110 pitches, 67 of them for strikes. Closer Kuo-Lee Chien-fu notched his eighth save of the season with one scoreless inning. He struck out two Bulls batters.

The Bulls, meanwhile, tried to keep it close by sending Dominican natives Osvaldo Martinez and Ramon Morel to the mound but the game had already been won off the starter and thus they fell to 28-13-1.
