Taiwan Baseball News: Lions and Gida Have Tails All Tied Up

Time to tie up the tails of the Lions and Gida. The President Lions and Makoto Gida played to a 3-3 tie last night before only 488 fans at Shingcung Stadium.
American native Joe Davenport pitched eight innings, scattering five hits and three runs, only one of which was earned, to pace the 20-14-1 Lions. He threw 127 pitches, 47 for strikes. Dominican native Maximo Nunez then came on and pitched 1/3 scoreless innings.
Meanwhile, Gida starter Shih-ching Tsai threw seven innings, giving up two runs, both earned while striking out seven. He threw 107 pitches, 65 of them for strikes. Ming-chin Lee then came on in relief and gave up just one hit. American native Bobby Munoz blew a save as he gave up one earned run on two hits in one inning.
For the 13-21-1 Gida, left fielder Chan-rong Chiou hit his fourth home run of the 2003 Chinese Professional Baseball League season in the bottom half of the eighth inning to give his team a short-lived 3-2 lead. He eventually finished 1-for-4 with one run scored and two RBIs. First baseman Jia-hsian Hsieh went 1-for-5 with one run and another driven in.

The Brother Elephants blanked the Sinon Bulls 5-0 last night at Kaoshung Stadium and improved to 16-17-1 on the season while the Bulls fell to 23-10-1.
The two teams will move to Taichung Stadium for tonight's game at 6:35 p.m. (Taiwan time).
