China Trust Whales 6 Sinon Bulls 13

Sinon Bulls third baseman Tai-shan Chang had another big night as he went 5-for-5, scoring three times and having three RBIs, as the Bulls routed the China Trust Whales 13-6 at Shingchu Stadium before 3,386 fans. Chang was named the Game MVP.

Whales starter Chao-jee Sooh lasted only 2/3 innings as the Bulls jumped on last season's MVP for six runs, all earned, in the first inning. Sooh scattered five hits and fell to 3-2-0. Chien-san Kao came on in relief and gave up eights hits and three runs, two of which were earned.

The Bulls had 20 hits as left fielder Song-yong Luo finished the evening 3-for-5 with one run driven in. Catcher Chun-chang Yeh went 2-for-4 with one run scored.

Chung-nan Tsai gave up six hits and four runs, all earned, for the 23-8-0 Bulls as he improved to 5-2-0 with the victory. Reliever Ren-ming Yang relieved Tsai with three solid innings of work as he gave up one earned run on two hits.

With the loss, the Whales fell back to third place at 18-12-2 and are 4.5 games back of the Chinese Professional Baseball League-leading Bulls. The President Lions are back in second place and trail the Bulls by four games and will try to make up some ground as they play host to the Brother Elephants at Tainan Stadium starting tonight.

Meanwhile, two bottom-dwellers in the Makoto Gida and First Securities Agan will begin their series at Kaoshung Stadium with the 2003 season series tied 2-2.
