Japan Baseball News: Giants Climb Into 2nd Place Tie in Central League

Highlights of April 27, 2003 games
Yomiuri Giants 10 - BayStars 3:
The Giants drove in 10 runs in the eigth inning to trounce the BayStars at Yokohama Stadium.
Roberto Petagine drove in the go-ahead run.
Hiroshima Carp 6 - Hanshin Tigers 2:
The Carp scored six runs in the first inning with Kojiro Machida's two-run home run and Yoshiyuki Ishihara's grand slam at Koshien Stadium.
Yakult Swallows 4 - Chunichi Dragons 1:
Kevin Hodges (2-2) gave up one run and one hit in eight innings to win the game for the Swallows at Jingu Stadium.
Shingo Takatsu also yielded only one run and one hit to collect his fifth save of 2003.
Fukuoka Daiei Hawks 7, Orix BlueWave 5:
Hayato Terahara (3-0) pitched six innings allowed three runs and eight hits to notch the win at Kobe's
Yahoo BB Stadium.
Nobuhiko Matsunaka hit a solo home run for the Hawks.
The BlueWave lost despite Takeshi Yamasaki's two home runs.
Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes 8 - Nippon Ham Fighters 7:
Koichi Isobe connected for a grand slam and Osamu Hoshino hit a solo home run to slip the Buffaloes past the Fighters.
Shinichi Kato pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up three runs and five hits for the win and Akira Okamoto earned the save.
Angel Echevarria hit two home runs for the Fighters at the Tokyo Dome.
Seibu Lions 13 - Chiba Lotte Marines 6:
Hiroshi Hirao hit a fourth inning grand slam home run to blast the Lions over the Marines at Chiba Marine Stadium.
Kazuo Matsui and Hiroyuki Takagi also had home runs for the Lions.
Shuichiro Osada was the winning pitcher.
