China Trust Whales 7 President Lions 0

The China Trust Whales sure did help out the Sinon Bulls last night. They blanked the Chinese Professional Baseball League-leading President Lions 7-0 at Tainan in front of 5,177 fans last night.

The Lions thought that by sending phenomenal rookie starter Wei-luen Pan to the mound that it was going to be a win gift wrapped in an Easter basket but it was not meant to be. Pan pitched well but not good enough as he lost for the first time this season (5-1-0). He gave up three runs, two earned, in seven innings of work and failed in his bid to become the CPBL's first six-game winner. Meanwhile, Game MVP Hiroaki Nakayama blanked the Lions for a complete game shutout to improve to 4-1-0.

Outfielder Chen-hao Wang went 1-for-5 with one run scored and two RBIs to lead the Whales, who improved to 12-10-1.

The Lions are now only 0.5 games ahead of the second-place Bulls after last night's loss. The Leos are 17-6-0 on the year.
