Today's MLB News by Eric Gartman
Series Edge to All-Star Winner-Major League Baseball has decided to give the
league that wins the All-Star Game home-field advantage in that season's World Series. The decision comes in the wake of a tie in last year's game that left many fans upset.
Commisioner Bud Selig has ingeniously come up with a way to deal with two problems at once. First, the lack of intensity in the All-Star game is addressed by giving the players an incentive to win. Second, it ensures that there will not be another tie in the midseason classic. Selig's decision has already drawn rave reviews from most baseball observers, who feel the All-Star lacks any competetive spirit. While the real test is yet to come, it seems like a smart move. Apparantly, Selig has a special committee to test more ideas that will hopefully boost baseball's popularity. In the months to come, we will see what the much-maligned Selig has in mind. But he is already off to a good start.

As a fan, this is great news. I love watching the players in the all-star game, but typically tune out around the 5th inning. Now I'll stay up to see who wins!
